Our thoughts are with our many Japanese friends and teachers, and the innumerable victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan
While the fatalities of last week’s terrible disaster are in the several thousands, and many thousands more must contend with freezing cold weather and the complete collapse of the region’s infrastructure, our hearts go out to our Japanese friends and their families.
This may be an appropriate moment to make our own contribution in return, after our own years of absorbing Japan’s culture and the Aikido we have received from our Japanese teachers.
The Japanese Red Cross has 115 response teams on the ground, including doctors and nurses, helping provide relief to the survivors of the disaster.
Donations may be made via the Japan Tsunami Appeal of the British Red Cross.
